AVP Taxation

**Description: - Permanent Full Time- We are looking for an
AVP, Taxation to join our excelling Taxation department
to assist with private equity and capital market transactions.- As an AVP, Taxation, your role will be responsible for (i) structuring investments in private equity and capital market transactions including M&A and other complex transactions; (ii) tax planning; (iii) tax authority audit activity; and (iv) tax compliance oversight. As a mentor and coach, you'll cultivate a dynamic learning environment, empowering team members to grow.- Reporting to the Vice President, Taxation, you will collaborate in investigating, researching, and analyzing income tax issues for the purpose of strategic investments, special transactions and/or tax planning.


Accountabilities:


  • Support the Vice President with all aspects of complex investments of the company including structuring private equity and capital markets transactions, M&A, Canadian and foreign affiliate taxation, compliance, and tax audit activity
  • Structuring ensure private equity and capital market transactions, including M&A, are structured effectively from a Canadian and foreign affiliate tax perspective; liaise with foreign tax jurisdiction teams;
  • Compliance support compliance team by identifying Canadian tax compliance arising from private equity investments, coordinate to ensure information required from private equity investments is attained to file Canadian tax returns, and review of T1134 forms related to private equity investments;
  • Tax Audits manage tax audits and respond to tax queries from the Canada Revenue Agency;
  • Work closely with Finance, Treasury, Tax and Legal teams globally for capital markets and M&A transactions.
  • Assist other members of the global tax team on various initiatives.

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Tax Professional with at least 8+ years of tax experience in public accounting or legal firm or equivalent industry experience;
  • Experience with investing in private equity (preferred);
  • Understanding and experience in IFRS accounting is helpful;
  • Experience in Canadian corporate reorganizations, foreign affiliate rules, and tax treaties;
  • Completion of Parts I to III of the CPA Indepth Tax Course or Master of Taxation;
  • Excellent project management skills and efficient approach to handling complex assignments;
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a very fastpaced environment; and
  • Able to communicate complex tax matters and issues in a clear and concise and manner.
  • The base salary for this position is between
    $120, $200,400.00** annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
