Safety Advisor


The Safety Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the policies, procedures and practices outlined in the Rohit Safety Management Program.

Through guidance and leadership, the Safety Advisor will work with staff and contractors to achieve and maintain health and safety objectives.


What will you do?

  • Ensure ongoing compliance of the Rohit Safety Management Program.
  • Maintain safety administration, including safety reports and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Conduct site visits and inspections and correct noncompliance issues.
  • Assist in the maintenance of our Certificate of Recognition (COR).
  • Complete health and safety inspections and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries and subsequent corrective actions.
  • Follow up on correction actions to ensure issues have been resolved adequately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
  • Assist in the creation and revision of company Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures (SWP and SJP) as well as safety training materials.
  • Promote the "Caught Working Safe" program.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring related to safety issues and concerns.
  • Organize safety training for staff and maintain training records.
  • Distribute health and safety related information to the site teams and trades.
  • Fleet management and maintenance oversight
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What do we look for?

  • Completion of a recognized health and safety program.
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) accreditation.
  • Certified in:
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS);
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS); and
  • Standard First Aid (SFA).
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation and procedures.
  • Knowledge of residential construction activities and processes.
  • Must be able to travel periodically and work weekends if required.
  • Excellent verbal written communication skills coupled with interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • A keen eye for detail, exemplary organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to coach, mentor, and lead workers, contractors, and clients through training and/or conversations relating to safe work procedures.
  • Ability to function well in a highpaced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Desire for continuing education and personal development.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
