We are looking to hire a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) to provide in-person counselling to 4-6 clients on Wednesdays in our office at 270 Maclaren street in Centretown.

We also encourage you to offer virtual sessions on additional days of the week, at times that are convenient for you.

Please note that a significant number of clients in our practice identify as 2SLGBTQ, and it is the preference of most clients to work with a therapist who also belongs to the community.

Therefore, this job posting is specifically intended for therapists who identify as 2SLGBTQ+.


All scheduling, billing, online sessions and client notes will be done in _Jane_, and you will be paid weekly for hours completed the previous week.

As an independent contractor, we kindly request that you take responsibility for managing your own supervision. We would be more than happy to provide a list of excellent supervisors we love working with.


Your contract includes full access to the office located at 270 Maclaren in Centretown every Wednesday, along with the requirement to conduct 4-6 in-person client sessions during this time.

All additional virtual sessions will be hosted online in your preferred space.


Location Requirements

  • Must live in or near Ottawa in order to provide inperson therapy on Wednesdays at the Centretown office location.

Education & Professional Registration Requirements

  • Masters Degree in counselling or a related field
  • Registered with the CRPO as a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
  • Minimum 100 DCC hours

Necessary Skills

  • Solid conceptualization and treatment skills for clients struggling with anxiety and depression
  • Able to conceptualize and help clients with a history of trauma, dissociation and mood disorders
  • Experience working with queer clients and a solid understanding of sexual orientation, gender identities, process of transitioning, and gender affirming care.
  • Solid understanding of intersectionality and structural racism

Preferred Clinical Skills & Experience

  • Some education or experience working with Internal Family Systems Therapy. This includes having completed any level of IFS training or having attended workshops or seminars on parts work.
  • Solid understanding of the Autonomic Nervous System and the mindbody connection (or be eager to learn more about this)
  • Understand the importance of nutrition and movement/fitness to maintain mental health and can educate and empower clients to develop a stronger mindbody connection
  • Be able to provide couples therapy
  • Be able to provide therapy in french
