Jardeg is currently seeking a Vibration Analysis Technician to join the esteemed team at Heartland Constructors Inc., stationed at the CNRL Albian site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This position offers the excitement of a fly-in, fly-out role with convenient charter flights available from either Calgary or Edmonton. You'll enjoy a well-structured 7-days-on and 7-days-off rotation, with 12-hour workdays, complete with two 30-minute breaks (one paid and one unpaid).

Your responsibilities cover a broad spectrum of tasks, allowing you to demonstrate your expertise and versatility.

While not limited to the following, your primary duties include:


  • Inspecting, troubleshooting, and analyzing data from rotating equipment to ensure the reliability of plant equipment for uninterrupted operations.
  • Identifying corrective methods to enhance machine health and reliability.
  • Recording work orders in a computerized maintenance system to accurately describe necessary tasks for addressing undesirable conditions.
  • Conducting baseline and acceptance testing of new and rebuilt equipment.
  • Gathering and interpreting data for equipment repairs or new projects to maximize uptime.
  • Conducting continuous vibration monitoring of rotating equipment and performing specialized diagnostic testing.
  • Performing indepth analysis of vibration, ultrasound, and thermal imaging data to assess machine health.
  • Maintaining vibration databases, trends, balance data, history, and monthly reports.
  • Carrying out predictive analysis to identify equipment vulnerabilities and potential endoflife issues.
  • Conducting resonance, phase, and crosschannel phase testing.
  • Being available for emergency calls during nighttime hours.
  • Collaborating closely with area Reliability engineers, Lube Techs, and other Vibrations Techs.
  • Contributing to CNRL's journey toward Predictive Maintenance and Machine Learning.

Key Aspects of the Role:


  • Monitoring vibration in rotating equipment to detect various failure modes, including bearing issues, misalignment, imbalance, soft foot mounting, mechanical looseness, and resonance.
  • Employing vibration analysis techniques for early detection of vibration issues to prevent critical damage, costly repairs, and safety hazards.
  • Utilizing various methods to monitor and analyze vibration data from structures or rotating equipment.
  • Ensuring equipment is returned to service without any faults.
  • Identifying recurring issues with "bad actor" equipment and determining root causes.
  • Preventing unscheduled machine downtime and improving plant reliability.
  • Reading diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine the best location for vibration probes.
  • Carrying out predictive and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS0
  • ISO Category 2 (or higher) Certification
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry & Monitor
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection
  • Basic Rigging Certification
  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP)
  • Valid Government Issued Identification
  • Certified Journeyperson and holds a valid recognized credential
