The Relief Program Worker is responsible for maintaining a high-quality service, in accordance with the Mission and policies of YWCA Toronto and the needs of women, gender diverse people and their children who have experienced or are experiencing abuse/violence in their lives, through direct program delivery and administration.

We help women, youth and gender diverse people flee violence, secure housing, find jobs, establish their voices, enhance skills and develop confidence.

We offer a range of housing options, employment and training programs, community support programs, girls' programs and family programs. We also engage in systemic advocacy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with all members of the Breakthrough team to plan and implement service delivery;
Facilitates up to two support/ educational/counselling group sessions weekly;
Participates in developing and maintaining an uptodate list of program referral sources, reflecting the inclusiveness of communities in Greater Toronto;
Provides telephone crisis counselling in response to phone messages;
Provides shortterm practical counselling, crisis counselling, problem solving and makes referrals for therapy when needed;
Maintains records, prepares and maintains individual participant's files including: progress reports, compiles program statistics, prepares annual program report and reports as required by funders and carries out other administrative tasks as required;
Assists the Manager in setting the goals and objectives for the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

13 years' experience in counselling and group work with women who have experienced or are experiencing abuse/violence;
Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to integrate expressive arts into group service delivery.
