Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant I, working under the close supervision of a pharmacist, dispenses, compounds, packages and distribute drugs and medications; prepackages and labels tablets and capsules; utilizes computerized pharmacy purchasing program to generate short lists and Purchase Orders; types correspondence and reports and performs a variety of reception and clerical duties.
Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is the largest hospital in northwest BC with 27 acute care beds. They offer emergency services, ultrasound, CT scans, surgery, extended care, pediatrics, radiology, and obstetrics. Additional services such as diabetes education, health heart and rehabilitation, podiatry, orthopedics and other visiting specialists.

Qualifications

Grade 12, graduation from a Pharmacy Assistant course, plus oneyear recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
Ability to type
Ability to organize work
Ability to operate related equipment
