A swimming instructor also called a swimming coach, teaches people how to swim.

The swimming instructor may teach prospective professional swimmers how to swim, in which they need to teach different techniques for swimming well and fast.

The swimming instructors might also deal with people of different ages and teach them to swim. The swimming instructors may work independently or be associated as swimming coaches with any sports institute.


Swimming Instructor Duties and Responsibilities

  • A swimming instructor should be able to teach small children, teenagers, adults, and old people how to swim. For this, the swimming instructor should be able to understand their strengths and shortcomings and teach them accordingly.
  • The swimming instructor should be able to deal with people of different attitudes as there are people with fearful nature who take a too long time to learn and people who are strong enough to learn swimming quickly.
  • The swimming instructor should not only teach his or her students how to swim but also teach them how to rescue themselves when there are contingency and other lifesaving skills.
  • The swimming instructors should develop expertise in swimming as they gain more and more work experience in swimming. They should develop their own unique methods so that they can establish themselves as well experienced trainers.
  • Swimming instructors should be able to teach swimming on the holidays and weekends.
  • Maintain the safety of participants in and around the class.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor on duty and act as a team in an emergency.
  • Handle all incidents in a manner appropriate to your training.
  • The swimming instructors should be able to suggest developments in the water quality in the swimming pool and notify the authorities of necessary changes so that swimming doesn't cause any harm to any individual.
  • To arrive in good time before the lesson starts time and to ensure facilities are set up appropriately. Prepare all necessary tools for lessons. Clean up the deck after lessons.
  • Work with other instructors in coteaching certain classes.
  • Evaluates students participating in swim lessons
  • Submits completed report cards, skills sheets, and attendance information on time
  • Handle all incidents in a manner appropriate to your training.
  • Present and conduct yourself in an appropriate manner with courtesy and regard for others.
  • Arrange cover for any planned absence and inform Management of the changes in good time.
  • Wear suitable clothing for teaching when in the water and uniform when out of water or when leaving or arriving on site.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all that utilize the facility and serve our diverse population.
  • Recognize your key role in the development of sales and be fully aware of all sales processes.

Part-time hours: 10-20 per week


Salary:
$25.00-$30.00 per hour
