    Your role

    As a Videographer based in Iqaluit, you will perform tasks as a specialist in video production while actively contributing creatively to storytelling by frequently composing distinctive visuals within the scope and time constraints of the program's on-air schedule. Your creative focus is primarily in daily news gathering & editing. You will regularly work with reporters who are gathering material in more than one language. You will perform according to accepted CBC and/ or industry standards, but there is latitude for independent action, judgment and initiative. Duties are performed under the direction of program or other assignment personnel, but there may be requirements to work independently.

    Work is usually performed within established program formats and under strict deadlines.

    Please note this posting is for a permanent full-time position that will require flexibility in terms of scheduling including possible weekend and evening shifts.

    We are looking for a candidate with the following:
    • Successful completion from a Community College in an appropriate discipline such as television or media arts, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Excellent level of technical knowledge and understanding of daily Television News production methods.
    • Ability to operate an Electronic News Gathering (ENG) camera and associated technology such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment, and communication tools.
    • Ability to edit video/audio using Non-Linear editing technology such as Avid Media Composer in both an office or remote setting.
    • Ability and willingness to handle technical operation (camera/audio/troubleshooting) for remote location on daily TV newscast. - Strong skills in both picture composition when using the camera as well as content presentation during the editing process.
    • A strong team player with experience and/or willingness to work with new reporters to help them develop their on-camera skills.
    • Knowledge of the north, and of Inuit culture and Inuktitut language is desirable.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations.
    • Ability to ask scripted questions of people being recorded or interviewed.
