Position Summary

Come join a collaborative team and be a key member as our Finance Systems Analyst where you will liaise and consult with internal stakeholders in identifying new technical opportunities to meet their operational needs.

Supporting the Finance Systems Manager, you will provide strategic direction of software products for the college's staff and students.

You will work closely with Finance and Information Technology teams to guide on various projects to deliver best practices and efficient solutions.

Responsibilities will include identifying and analyzing business and user requirements; designing, building and acquiring innovative solutions to improve business intelligence, efficiency and ease of operations.

This role reports to the Associate Vice President, Finance.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing business analysis activities and analysis within all phases of the project life cycle (including technical requirements, plan of business analysis and transformation activity, business modelling and ongoing requirements, documentation requirements and maintenance of approved business requirements)
  • Meet with the business users to discuss and review the requested changes
  • Facilitate and manage the environment necessary with knowledge and experience to elicit, analyze and communicate requirements
  • Analyze the requested changes by examining the code and functionality of the multiple integrated systems and applicable modules to determine what impact the changes may have (identify the scope of the project i.e. major versus a simple change request)
  • Document the user requirements in detail that baseline features and functionality and expected outcomes
  • Through consultation with the business areas, develop business process analysis mappings and workflow to identify and illustrate the desired outcomes
  • Work with Subject Matter Expert (SME) when creating user documentation (re. how to use the system) for newly developed or upgraded systems or processes
  • Advocate and advise on continual process improvement models that support ITIL SM and strategic alignment to Centennial College Book of the Future
  • Support and/or lead Finance systems maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and other systems related work as assigned
  • Support and/or lead Finance related projects and mitigate any risk impacting project deliverables
  • Advise and provides expertise and recommendations to IT, staff and stakeholders on specialized business management and branch systems including processes, practices, information technology, efficiencies
  • Provide business analysis expertise to analysts, managers, clients, and users through presentations, recommendations, workshops, interviews, and briefing notes to assess initiatives, contribute/develop business cases, and devise feasibility and options analyses that accurately address business needs
  • Analyze business processes and make recommendations for continual service improvements based on industry trends, best practice and professional business knowledge during project life cycle
  • Ensures the usability and functionality of software for the college staff, students and agents
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications/Experience

  • Fouryear (4) degree OR postgraduate certificate with a focus in Economics and/or Computer Science; Certificate in Business Analysis or PMI certification welcome
  • Five (5) years relevant experience in a Business Analyst and/or Systems Analyst in Finance and/or Information Technology combined with managing customer relationships and project management activities
  • Proven success in delivering endtoend small to large projects on time and on budget
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Project, Visio, SharePoint)
