Caretaker, Facility Operations
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Venue Operations, the Caretaker, Facility Operations will be a vital part of the team responsible for the overall cleanliness of the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre venue.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities include:
- Work within established caretaking procedures.
- Operate Industrial Vacuums and Power Scrubbers including walk behind and riding equipment.
- Washing of windows, interior and exterior walls.
- Dusting various surfaces as required/directed.
- Empty waste, recycling, and organic receptacles.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax/seal hallways, offices, rooms, open spaces, and stairs.
- Complete cleaning and disinfecting of all washrooms, showers, and change room spaces.
- Clean sidewalks, entryways, exits, and stairways of ice, snow, and debris.
- Tending of grounds and landscaping.
- Setup tables, chairs, staging and other related event chattel.
- Assist in the moving of heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Support full time, part time and contract maintenance staff
- Assist in ensuring safety and security of venue.
- Assist in the development and safe implementation of SOP's.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills: highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible, and to work well under pressure, strong level of initiative required.
- Other related duties including but not limited to parking and general labouring duties.
What You'll Bring
Education and Experience:
- High school or technical school diploma or combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- 23 years of experience in a multiuse facility is an asset
- Ability to problem solve in highpressure situations
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to perform physical/manual labor for extended periods of time (including lifting up to 50lbs, repetitive tasks)
- Ability to work outdoors, including snow removal and landscaping
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required
- Must be able to work daytime/evening/ weekends and overnights.
- Able to work late hours in an unsupervised environment.
- You may be required to work on holidays.
