    A Day In The Life

    Fasken's Business Development team has an immediate opening for a hands-on, results-oriented, experienced professional. As the Business Development Manager, the successful candidate will enjoy a highly visible position providing marketing and business development support for the firm's Technology, Media and Telecommunications group including the support for key growth areas including emerging technology and venture capital, AI, Data, Video Games and IT.

    The Manager will work with lawyers across our international offices to develop and execute a strategic business plan, providing thought leadership and executing on targeted marketing methods including effective client events, worthwhile organizational affiliations and sponsorships, cross-practice initiatives, and other projects.

    This role reports to the Director, Business Development and will work collaboratively with the rest of the Business Development team as well as the Firm's Marketing and Communications groups. It has minimal direction and is required to exercise strong initiative, and sound judgment and the utmost professionalism expected for a Tier 1 law Firm.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Business Development

  • Develop the annual business plan for TMT with input from key group members and drive the strategy forward throughout the year.
  • Identify and evaluate new business pipelines and targets for BD opportunities.
  • Develop strategies and identify opportunities and to promote the practice, increasing its visibility and dominant position in the market.
  • Provide strategic input / collaborate on RFPs and pitches with lawyers, Pricing and Innovation teams, and proposal writers.
  • Leverage next gen CRM platform to track opportunities.
  • Facilitate cross selling initiatives with other firm practice groups.
  • Support lawyers to prepare them for business development meetings/trips with prospects, including identification of client targets/prospects, preparing appropriate collateral, as well as client and market intelligence.
  • Profiling and Market intelligence

  • Lead the rankings submission strategy for TMT.
  • Manage & provide up-to-date marketing collateral and go-to-market solutions, in consultation with relevant team members.
  • Work closely with content strategist on implementation of the social media strategy and identifying opportunities for thought leadership.
  • Stay abreast of key industries, maintain a strong knowledge of key clients and market forces, including business trends and competitive landscape.
  • Project and Operational Management

  • Develop and manage the firmwide TMT business development budget, oversee expenses and approvals, ensure timely reconciliations.
  • Track and provide monthly updates detailing business development activity and successes (win/loss ratios, referrals, return on networking investments, upcoming activities).
  • Work with multiple internal stakeholders to assess timelines and track progress of key initiatives, reporting back regularly to group leadership.
  • Team Management

  • Oversee 1-2 direct reports through coaching, mentoring, delegation, and supervision.
  • Must Haves

  • 7 years of experience in marketing or professional services business development in a technology-related field is essential. A strong preference for candidates with legal or other professional services related Firm experience.
  • Experience working in large/matrix organizations, managing multiple stakeholder requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required, and/or MBA preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.

    Compensation

    The typical salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
