Reporting to the Food Services Manager the
Breakfast Cook/ Lead Cook will help us champion our collective commitment to deliver quality service and to ensure our Residents are served appealing, nutritionally sound meals keeping in mind their right to voice their choice.

The
Breakfast
Cook/Lead Cook is accountable to manage food production, plate presentation and hospitality style dining to meet the dining needs of the residents in accordance with legislative requirements and the organization standards.

• Adheres to and follows the prescribed menu system, sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation. Prepares food following standardized recipes. Provides for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitors quality of food supplies received and advises General Manager of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• Abides by and ensures that food service employees follow infection control practices at all times
• Knowledge of kitchen standards and practices to ensure the health & safety of the department and residents
• Assists in the orientation and training of food service employees
• Attends inservice meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of a Recognized Post Secondary Food Service Worker Program is preferred
• Creative Food Preparation and Food Presentation is a must
• Oneyear experience in high volume food preparation, catering and special events preparation in the hospitality or Retirement home industry.
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve certificate. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
