Some of what you will do:


The Manager provides operational leadership for all in-store signage and visual elements and is responsible for coordinating the production and execution to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of the brand.

Reporting to the Director, Creative and Visual Merchandising, the Signage Manager will work with Signage Development, Marketing channels, Operations and Construction teams as well as various outside vendors, will manage programs from concept to execution including cost-effective production, execution, consistency of in-store messaging and communication.


Specifically, You Will:


Production Services

  • Provide production services for instore signage programs including releasing files to outside print production houses, reviewing art with vendor to monitor consistency and ensure that all standards are adhered to.
  • Oversee prepress artwork process to ensure technical standards are met and suitable for type of printing. Monitor production forms to ensure art matches quoted specifications (size, colour, and details).
  • Negotiate and solicit competitive bids for printing services.
  • Place orders and coordinate installation of permanent store graphic programs through Real Estate and Construction. Follow up on issues and find solutions as required (ie unique store formats) that would enhance and support objectives
  • Ensure projects stay on budget and on time and follow up as required when projects are offcourse. Assess and identify risks of timelines falling off target and proactively work to overcome.
  • Consult with business stakeholders to assess needs of signage and provide ideas and input on execution.

Execution

  • Set and maintain standards of execution for the team and departments who work with the Signage team, providing framework for work flow.
  • Liaison with merchandise and planogram teams and product vendors to ensure coordination and execution of all inline signing elements to maximize sales productivity.
  • Make recommendations and decisions regarding specific components to be implemented within each campaign based on program requirements.
  • Exercise judgment through making recommendations to compliment new and existing marketing initiatives and executes to plan. Maintain consistency in messaging, sizing and brand identity is being considered when new signage is being created.
  • Manage signing budget
  • Work closely with sign vendors, marketing and construction to find creative solutions for nonprototypical stores.
  • Partner with merchandising, marketing and vendors to develop, implement and maintain customer oriented POP within store locations ensuring a single voice to the retail customer.
  • Determine, maintain and support language standards in all signage.

People Management

  • Manage, provide guidance and motivate direct reports through effective orientation, training, and evaluation who would be responsible for signage execution.
  • Hire and coach associates through disciplinary actions up to and including termination of employment.
  • Considerable skills are required as interaction and negotiation is required among vendors, Directors of Merchandising, VP's of Marketing, Operations, Merchandising, the President of the company and Stores.

  • Participate in special projects.
  • Budget is 3.2 million for store signage

Some of what you need:


  • Bachelor's degree/diploma with a focus on retail management, merchandising and graphic design or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of prepress and print processes required.
  • Ability to translate objectives into graphic communications that are understandable "at a glance" and consistent with corporate marketing/merchandising programs
  • People management/development skills an asset
  • Strong understanding of customer shopping patterns/behaviors and retail industry.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in designing signage in a retail environment or retail management experience an asset.
  • 57 years progressive experience required with a minimum of 5 yrs progressive experience as a visual merchandising manager.
