The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a Access Support Usher
Overview:
The Toronto Blue Jays Organization is seeking hard-working individuals with a dedication for assisting fans and a passion for enhancing the fan experience.
This position requires a willingness to assist a wide demographic of fans - especially those with accessible needs - in a polite and friendly manner to ensure that all of our fans have an enjoyable and memorable experience while at Rogers Centre.
Access Support Ushers are primarily responsible for assisting our fans with accessible needs through the delivery of wheelchair or walking escorts, in-game check-ins, and monitoring of accessible areas to avoid congestion and allow for an equal opportunity for fans to fully enjoy the game without interruption.
Responsibilities:
- Assist fans with accessible needs to and from their seats by way of wheelchair escort or providing an arm for fan as support
- Ingame checkins with fans with accessible needs, providing support and information around accessible options.
- Ensure accessible areas of concourse remain clear of congestion
- Monitor accessible seating locations, responding to any fan complaints or issues and ensuring a positive fan experience
- Coordinate accessible dropoff and pickup transportation zone with other departments
- Greet and assist fans inside and outside of Rogers Centre with a smile
- Support the Usher team by filling in where needed or supporting on breaks
- Act as an information resource for fans, providing directions and stadium information as required
- Report any incident (major or minor) through an Incident Report Card and submitting it to a supervisor
Qualifications:
- Available to work a minimum of 80% of all Toronto Blue Jays home games, and 50% of all other events (i.e. concerts) including working evenings, weekends and holidays as required
- Able to push a wheelchair with one passenger around the stadium (training for safe navigation will be provided)
- A passion for teamwork and the ability to communicate and interact positively in a team setting
- Excellent customer service skills and creative problemsolving skills
