The Manager, Payroll is accountable for fully transactional service excellence for the Hospital's management team, to its 1,300 employees.The role provides outstanding leadership in directing, mentoring, coaching and developing a cohesive and dynamic team that administers the various payroll functions, and the day-to-day customer service and support activities across the hospital.

This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure payroll processes and services are fully compliant and are completed accurately within defined parameters and on a timely basis.
- Provides payroll expertise and support to all leadership, is the main point of contact for VP's and Directors and departments
- Leads the design and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures in collaboration with other Finance team members.
- Provide daily counsel to payroll staff and other key stakeholders.
- Responsible for recruitment and selection of the staff members, orientation and training, assigning work and maintaining performance goals and standards.
- Effectively manage the Hospitals' daytoday payroll operations.
- Develop a sound control framework and proactively identify and manage risks,
- Update and maintain annual payroll schedules.
- Conduct the final review of each payroll's final reconciled output and authorize/approve the Hospital's financial commitment to the direct deposit file submission and bank funding.
- Complete responsibility over the audit and control activities for each payroll cycle, plus the reconciliations and timely submission of all payrollrelated statutory filings and payments to government agencies
- Ensure accurate assessment of taxable benefits, reconciliation and remittances of group benefits.
- Coordinate acceptance and implement quality control measures related to promoting system updates and enhancements.
- Manage the payroll accounting requirements related to the general ledger financial reporting, interfaces and oversee the reconciliation of all payroll related accounts
- Ensures any requests for payrollrelated information and/or internal reports are analyzed properly and disseminated in a timely manner and in accordance with approved privacy legislation and the Hospital's confidentiality and data sharing protocols.
- Develop, maintain and execute the testing related to the payroll business continuity plan (PBCP).
- Working closely with key stakeholders, take a coleadership role as the payroll representative on a major projects
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification through the Canadian Payroll Association
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance
- Three to five (35) years progressive management experience in Payroll in a unionized Healthcare setting
- Sound knowledge of integrated HRIS systems
- Strong analytical and problem skills to resolve complex issues, identify trends/patterns, model alternatives, develop and recommend factbased solutions required
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
- Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change

- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
