The impact you will have:


As the Specialist, Prospect Research & Donor Database at MS Canada, your expertise and contributions will directly impact the organization's ability to expand its donor base, raise vital funds and ultimately, make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve.


In this role you will:

  • Conduct research on individuals, corporations, and foundation prospects through analysis of their financial capacity, affinity and linkage to MS Canada and prepare in-depth profiles.
  • Provide media monitoring by analyzing industry, business, and financial news aligned to fundraising.
  • Prepare briefing documents for key leadership volunteers and staff for cultivation and stewardship events.
  • Develop an understanding of MS Canada funding priorities and effectively assist the Philanthropy team with research needs.
  • Participate in prospect management meetings to provide input on prospects and subsequently record the information in Salesforce.
  • Manage prospect research related documentation, ensuring that information is kept up to date and accessible.
  • Serve as a resource to all staff on data standards, policies, systems and tools.
  • Maintain and update procedural documents related to system entry, processes, and business rules, and ensure compliance to all relevant legislation, regulation, policies, and procedures such as the Canada Revenue Agency, FIPPA, Imagine Canada, etc.
  • Participate in the short
- and long-term strategic plan for database management to the overall success of fundraising.

  • Support or coordinate training for users across all departments.

Requirements:


  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a prospect research and database role with a nonprofit organization, or advance training in prospect research for philanthropic support.
  • University degree in business, research, information science or other related field; postgraduate degree in library and information science is an asset.
  • Knowledge of development, the donor lifecycle and engagement activities.
  • Expertise utilizing Salesforce NPSP and research tools such as iWave or other relational databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters of discretion, highly sensitive and confidential material and possess a high degree of integrity.
  • Commitment to providing excellent client service, maintaining relationships and collaborating with the team.
