- Start at 8:30 AM
- Minimum 4hour shift required.
- Parttime, must commit to minimum 2 shifts per week
- We are open 7 days a week so can offer you choice and flexibility of days
- We have a strict Attendance Policy. We are a small company and need all staff to report to work as scheduled.
This is not a complicated job but is a physical position that requires being on your feet, regular heavy lifting and being able to move at a good pace in general.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping unload used and defective mattresses and furniture from trucks;
- Helping forklift operator;
- Helping load outbound shipments of salvaged materials;
- Moving salvaged materials from processing areas to baling areas, bins, etc;
- Helping bale cardboard and plastic film;
- Taking garbage loads to and operating the garbage compactor;
- Helping keep work areas clean, sweeping, etc;
- Helping properly sort components for recycling;
- Material handling;
- Following lockout/ tagout procedures when cleaning equipment;
- Following ALL other operating and safety procedures and policies, including wearing a respirator (which we provide);
- Other suitable tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Able to work in a physically demanding job and move items weighing up to 70 pounds. You'll be moving mattresses and furniture.
- Hardworking, efficient, safetyconscious, and able to work independently.
- Honest, punctual, responsible, reliable, and a team player.
- Able to understand, speak, read, and write in English.
- You may be asked to provide a current criminal record check. We also may do online court record checks.
When in the warehouse, you will be required to wear a small respirator (which we provide). Must be clean-shaven as per WorkSafeBC requirements.
We provide all other PPE including safety glasses, face shields, gloves, earplugs, and reflective harness/ vest but you must bring your own steel-toed boots.$18/hr to start depending on experience.
Full-time employees are eligible for company-paid health benefits, AD & D coverage, life insurance, flu and tetanus shots, and paid sick leave after a 3-month probationary period.
All employees who reach regular weekly hours of 30 hours or more are considered full-time and participate in our Health & Wellness program.
