Your Opportunity


As Stantec's Mining group continues to grow, we have the need for a Project Controls Supervisor to join our team.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will support project execution and corporate goals.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Tracks and updates project budget, costs, change orders, and trends
  • Tracks and updates project progress and performance
  • Responds to the needs of project managers and assumes responsibility for executing the cost control activities required on an individual project basis
  • Monitors committed, incurred and actual costs
  • Earned value management reporting
  • Read and analyze project schedules, understanding the logic, critical path, variances, and causes of change
  • Prior to the start of a project, work with planner/schedulers to develop baselined schedules, including resource loading, coordinating with the Project Manager and team to logically sequence all scope of work to be performed
  • Ensure proper progressing of the baseline schedule for each project, along with identifying and recording the impacts of work performed. Evaluate actual progress vs plan and provide regular updates
  • Interface with the client and project team to discuss impact of work and resolution of problems
  • Contribute to the development of proposal documents, including estimates, budgets, WBS, and scope of work
  • Change Management ‒ Executing the integrated change control process over cost baselines
  • Support the Project Controls Specialists and Project Managers with the change control process and implementation of change control requirements around scope, cost, schedule
  • Assist with monitoring the change request, assessment, process, approval, and implementation
  • Reporting:
  • Support recurring and ad-hoc reporting requirements
  • Actively participate in the project report preparation activities
  • Other Scheduling & Cost Control related activities as per Project Controls Manager directions
  • Support the Project Controls Manager with departmental initiatives, training, and team coordination
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior staff, offering opportunities to grow their skills/experience
  • Lead by example embracing Stantec's culture of safety and high quality

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Practical underground mine development and construction experience
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including advanced excel skills
  • Experience working in Primavera P6 with engineering, procurement, and execution schedules, including the ability to update existing schedules
  • Must have a proven track record of positively contributing to a multidisciplinary project design, procurement, and construction team
  • Strong task management skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities
  • High level organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated success in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent & demonstrated computer skills (i.e., Primavera, MS Office, MS Project, Adobe, SAP, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, communicative, analytical and adaptability skills
  • Must be selfsufficient, selfmotivated and the ability to multitask

Education and Experience

  • Professional Degree in Engineering is considered an asset
  • Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is considered an asset
  • 710 years of related experience in a project environment with a construction and / or engineering background
