Tasks:


  • Administrative and office activities
  • Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services
  • Implement life skills workshops
  • Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • Develop, coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
  • Resolve conflict situations
  • Supervise children's visits with parents to ensure their safety
  • Conduct individual and group counselling sessions
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  • Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings
  • Act as an advocate for client groups in the community
  • Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team working with a client group
  • Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services
  • Provide public education and consultation regarding counselling services, issues and methods
  • Provide consultation services to government and other organizations
  • Perform administrative tasks
  • Interview clients to assess their situation and determine the types of services required and eligibility
  • Investigate claimants when fraud or abuse is suspected
  • Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them
  • Conduct social research
  • Maintain and prepare reports from manual or electronic files, inventories, mailing lists and databases
  • Develop prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs
  • Counsel clients, provide therapy and mediation services, and facilitate group sessions
