The Programming Assistant (PA) reports to the Student Housing management team and works closely with the Community Leader (CL) team to support community building initiatives in residence.

They facilitate high-quality, innovative, feedback-driven, and safe programs for specific residence communities and the residence system as a whole.

The PA contributes to all aspects of the programming process from gathering ideas, planning, maintaining documentation, marketing, assessment, and for ensuring that programming funds are spent in ethical and high-impact ways.


Responsibilities:


  • Liaise with Community Leaders and campus/community partners to identify ongoing trends and needs in the residence community.
  • Research highquality program ideas that creatively respond to those needs.
  • Plan, promote, and execute educational and communitybuilding programs that prioritize the health and safety of participants and foster a sense of safety for diversity and inclusion.
  • Follow appropriate approval processes and complete financial reporting in a timely manner.
  • Collect formal and informal feedback on programming and report it to Student Housing management
  • Exercise discretion and critical thinking in all interactions with students, maintaining confidentiality, connecting those experiencing challenges/stressors with appropriate resources, and escalating situations when warranted to involve other relevant supports (e.g., Community Leaders, Manager On-Call, Campus Security, 911, etc.)
  • Attend team and oneonone meetings as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Fulltime CUE student (or parttime as approved by Learning Accommodations Services) in satisfactory academic standing for the duration of the contract (Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 terms).
  • Successful applicants do not have to live in residence, but experience with the residence experience at CUE is an asset.
  • 12 years of experience in customer service, residence/student life, or leadership is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of how to plan and budget for events.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problemsolving, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Skill in creating marketing material and using social media.
  • Comfortable climbing up to 2 flights of stairs
  • Able to lift 100 pounds assisted, 30 pounds unassisted
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Able to pass criminal record and campus conduct background checks.
