Description
Reporting to the General Manager, the Mechanical Design CAD Technician's primary function is to support the Mechanical Engineering group in the design, development and integration of components, tools and equipment using Solidworks, Creo and AutoCAD.
Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:- Producing technical drawings/designs for Mechanical, Industrial engineering and Construction projects (Product, Equipment, Machine designs, Architectural metals)
- Provide technical support and services for engineers and project managers
- Prepare and interpret conventional and computer assisted design (CAD) engineering designs, drawings and specifications
- Coordinate designs with fabricators to implement best practices and increase product manufacturability
- Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities
- Help prepare cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports
- Assist in the design of tools, jigs and fixtures for use in manufacturing processes
- Supervise, monitor and inspect mechanical installations
- Carry out a range of mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components and materials
- Create and foster teamwork within each project
- Participate in the installation, repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment
- Check drawings to DYMECH standards
- Check CAD models for accuracy and DFMA Principles
Communication:
- Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities
- Encourage and participate in open communication within the design team
Your Experience:
- Completion of a two or three year college program in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent
- Certification in mechanical engineering technology or in a related field through provincial associations of engineering / applied science technologists and technicians is desirable
- Minimum three years of relevant working experience
- Setting up models for FEA/FEM an asset
- Structural drafting experience an asset;
- Experience working in a fabrication / Shop environment desireable.

Salary:
$25.00-$30.00 per hour
