$39.18 to $44.43 per hour (2023 rates)


Job Summary

The position predominately focuses on developing and implementing pollution prevention strategies and drives environmental campaigns to encourage better business practices related to wastewater and storm water infrastructure.

This position will support the CRD's objectives of meeting regulatory commitments and also support businesses and large organizations in achieving effective environmental stewardship.


Qualifications

  • University degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Studies with 35 years of directly related experience including directly related experience in the development and delivery of outreach programs.
  • Must possess a valid BC Driver's Licence.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate strategies to reduce discharge of contaminants into liquid waste management infrastructure and the environment from business and agricultural sectors.
  • Utilize a range of nonregulatory and regulatory tools to engage the business and agricultural sectors of the region.
  • Work with staff within and across programs to develop strategies and approaches to engage business and agricultural sectors.
  • Researches, compiles, promotes and scientifically evaluates current and emerging trends and provides technical and general information to stakeholders.
  • Assists the development, implementation and evaluation of the onsite sewage, trucked liquid waste, and controlled waste programs.
  • Prepare technical documents for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to share information and collaborate on projects and initiatives.
  • Develop campaign performance metrics and coordinates the evaluation of outreach and education campaigns.
  • Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to obtain or exchange information, comments on draft regulations and coordinates intergovernmental activities.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and presentation (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate key messaging to nontechnical audiences.
  • Knowledge of outreach and education strategies and techniques (e.g., facilitation, outreach campaigns, web and/or social media content and social marketing).
  • Knowledge of best practices for environmental monitoring, regulatory and educational programs or projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental contaminants and general source control practices.
  • Sound understanding of applicable environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various computer word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of effective partnership methods and techniques.
  • Welldeveloped organizational skills.
  • Experience writing technical reports, sometimes using nontechnical language.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, respond to broad direction, use initiative, be innovative and complete tasks on budget and on time.

Education :
Bachelor's degree

Experience : 3 years to less than 5 years
