With a high level of independence, the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the satellite campuses and out-buildings/sites of the College.

The incumbent will perform general maintenance tasks related to various trade skills and ensure both interior and exterior building and operating systems are well functioning.


Responsibilities:


  • Operates, maintains, repairs and adjusts mechanical building equipment including heating, ventilation hydraulic controls, chemical feed systems, etc.
  • Performs general repair and maintenance; including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc., as well as necessary building checks and inspections
  • Ensures all Fire and Life Safety systems are tested as required and remain operational
  • Developes and adheres to all required preventative maintenance programs
  • Completes work requests through establishing priorities, scheduling and coordinating with College requests
  • Implements and schedules all contractor certifications and inspections in accordance with Fire and Life Safety standards, Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) regulations and building codes
  • Provides guidance and direction to trades and contractors to ensure there are no conflicts with building operations in more complicated repairs
  • Records mechanical data, observes malfunctions, initiates and completes corrective actions
  • Maintains detailed records of work as required by Technical Standards and Safety Association (TSSA), Ministry Of Labour (MOL), Fire Authorities, Ministry of Environment and College/department practices and procedures
  • Reviews lease agreements for both College rented and leased properties to ensure all contract maintenance requirements are being met and upheld
  • Performs shipping/receiving and courier services
  • Monitors, recommends and completes landscaping, as well as road, parking lot and sidewalk repairs
  • Provides onsite setup and tear down support
  • Provides orientation to new department staff members
  • Assists in development and implementation of approved special projects, contracts, and events by working with college departments and academic groups to understand and document requirements and research new ideas/products
  • Provides input in the development of budget and expenditures in regards to equipment upgrades and obtains and negotiates quotes to meet project budgets
  • Engages with contractors and ensures contractor's proposed works meet the project scope, college requirements, industry standards, procedures and policies
  • Obtains and prepares documentation for warranties, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals
  • Updates internal documentation and software systems (i.e. Archibus, SharePoint folders and asset management plan)
  • Assists in the maintenance of the entire college vehicles/fleet portfolio by ensuring proper practices and inspections are being adhered to and updating all necessary vehicle documentation to ensure compliance with Provincial regulations, licencing requirements, and road safe standards

Qualifications:


  • Certificate or Diploma in Facility Operations or Facility Management, Construction Management/Engineering, Building, Skilled Trade (Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, HVAC), or related fields
  • Eight years of practical experience in Building Maintenance and grounds operation
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and fleet equipment considered an asset
  • Project coordination experience an asset
  • Building Environmental Systems (BES) Operator certification an asset
  • Forklift experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication and client services skills with the ability to balance the needs of the stakeholders, various departments and ongoing Facilities Management operations
  • Knowledge in monitoring, evaluating and providing direction to contractors
  • Knowledge of basic trade skills, maintenance requirements, landscaping management, and automotive and small engine equipment maintenance
  • Strong self motivation and ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid G driver's licence and ability to be insured on a College vehicle
