    Position Summary:

    Reporting to IT Manager, the incumbent will assist developing web applications and adjusting website tools. They will be responsible for creating and adjusting site layout and designs according to the needs of the organization. In addition, the IT Assistant will test and modify web applications to eliminate bugs and errors. Additional tasks will be assigned according to the projects being completed by the IT department.

    Main Duties:

  • Assist in developing web applications and adjusting website tool;
  • Test and make modifications to promote an user-friendly and robust web application;
  • Test and modify web applications to eliminate bugs and errors;
  • Responsible for creating and adjusting site layout and designs according to the needs of the organizations;
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure any new / existing web applications meet business requirements;
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a recognized University or College in Computer Science and related studies;
  • Experience with or knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CMS (Joomla and WordPress);
  • Experience with or knowledge of implementation of social API's like Facebook, Twitter, etc.;
  • Knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 is a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated analytic, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Bilingual in English and Cantonese / Mandarin, both oral and written is preferred.

    All summer student positions are funded to promote employment opportunities for students. The position and duration of it are based on funding approval. To be eligible for the program, job applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant or territorial legislation and regulations.
