$42.90 per hour

(It is anticipated that the acting assignment will end on July 1, 2024)

  • SAP Programs, the Administrator, SAP ABAP is responsible for _
  • SAP environment

Key responsibilities also include:
_
- _Meeting client requirements for new, enhanced, or current implementations of SAP modules,_
- interfaces, data and reports;_
- _Managing the implementation and integration of business solutions as projects, including_
- teams of programmers (both permanent & contract); and_
- _Ensuring the adherence to overall TDSB and SAP system standards during all phases of_
- project and production activities to assure compliance with all collective agreements, legislation,_
- regulations, Board policies, practices and procedures._


Summary of Duties:

Ensure adherence to overall SAP system standards as well as relevant policies and practices;
Perform continuous research and evaluation of new SAP enhancements as it relates to ABAP

program development;
Investigate and document user requirements and standard modification procedure for

development of programming solutions;
Investigate, plan, write and document ABAP programs to meet user requirements;
Participate in SAP user committees to better understand end-user-programming requirements;
Ensuring the adherence to overall TDSB and SAP system standards during all phases of project

and production activities to assure compliance with all collective agreements, legislation,
regulations, Board policies, practices and procedures;
Assist in supervising all aspects of the SAP Enterprise system to ensure integrity, availability and
performance;
Establish and maintain a working, optimized and stable SAP environment for all users;
Assist in supervising SAP services, programs and projects as required by the SAP steering

Committee;
Perform unit and integration testing of changes and assist in the implementation of SAP

enhancements;
Assist in planning SAP R/3 upgrades and the design and development of SAP enhancements as it

pertains to ABAP development;
Act as lead analyst on SAP projects;
Develop specifications and systems design for enhancements;
Write the complex programs, investigate configuration changes, monitor and review the other

programs developed by other SAP team members;

Develop the requirements for a test environment before implementation of the software and
conducts unit functional and systems testing of the changes;
may include examining the programs as well as the associated configuration;
Develop course of action to rectify any program or procedure deficiency. This may include
recommending configuration changes to the functional team;
Use a variety of tools to the solutions such as SAP knowledge base (OSS) and SAP user forums
Oversees the implementation of various projects or enhancements to existing SAP programs;
As project leader, once a business problem has been identified the problem would be reviewed

and possible alternatives formulated. This analysis would include the scope, resource & budget.
Once a project or enhancement has been approved the ABAP administrator would develop plans,
schedules, budgets, monitor progress, and develop status reports.

Monitor the work of SAP team members and will coach them as needed;
On an annual basis develops objectives and plans for the following year;
Attend SAP technology conferences and training seminars, and perform lab exercises;
Research, analysis and implementation of information from SAP service marketplace (white

papers, OSS notes, and webinars, etc.).
Read a variety of technology journals in order to maintain state of the art knowledge of the current

and future technologies;
Ensure that assigned personnel is trained efficiently and ensure there is appropriate backup in

place;
Investigate development tools and utilities and establishes programming standards for the

development environment; and
Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

University Degree in Computer Science or related field with three years progressive working

combination of education and experience;
Certification in ABAP or equivalent SAP courses in ABAP;


Understanding of the following:

  • Technical and data architecture of SAP;
  • Wide spectrum of SAP R/3 modules
  • BW/BI, CRM, Portal;
  • SAP modification and enhancement procedures
  • Transport System
  • Dialogprogramming techniques
  • Application prototyping process

Expertise and skills in the following:

  • Structured and object-oriented design and analysis;
  • Error and exception handling
  • User and system documentation following standard methodology
  • SAP
