Job Purpose:


Canadian Banking Finance is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical insight to Canadian Banking Executive Management, Business Line Management in Retail Banking, Tangerine, Small Business and Commercial Banking areas.

The Manager, Planning & Forecasting, will be a member of the Planning & Forecasting team reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning & Forecasting.

The Manager is responsible for providing accurate, comprehensive and timely preparation of financial analysis to support the Canadian Banking Profit Plan, Forecasts, and providing ongoing P&L and profitability review.

This includes supporting Senior Manager to develop and enhance the financial intelligence capabilities of Canadian Banking Finance around planning and forecasting, financial analysis, financial modelling, and strategic planning.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:1) Preparation of quarterly update and full year forecast:

  • Ownership of timely collection of financial and non-financial data from business lines
  • Consolidation of business line forecast
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of quarterly update and full year forecast
  • Complete analytical review to:
  • Ensure completeness and reasonability of forecast and provide viable solutions to issues raised
  • Understand the relevant performance of the business to plan/ actuals
  • Communication of quarterly results to Senior Manager
2) Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly deck for Senior Management

3) Assist in development of analytics to improve precision around planning and forecasting

4) Develop and maintain financial models for analysis and forecasting of key business drivers

5) Support Sr. Managers and Directors with insightful and detailed analyses and modelling (ad hoc and regular) to assist in decision support

6) Support Sr. Managers and Directors in the information gathering process and analysis for strategic and tactical projects requested by Senior management

7) Support ad hoc analysis requests as required

8) Develop and maintain strong working relationships within CB Finance and CB business units as well as divisional support functions as required


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a Financial Institution or related background
  • Working knowledge of banking products including both lending and deposits
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills and a demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problemsolving skills
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills
  • Demonstrates intuition and intellectually sound judgment in making decisions related to assigned duties
