Position Summary:


The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) of the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro) conducts over 100 clinical trials for adults with neurological disorders.

In order to fulfill its mandate of support to the McGill Principle Investigators community, the CRU is looking to hire an Academic Associate (Clinical Projects Associate) to support the Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) team in coordinating clinical research projects.

The Clinical Project Associate oversees all steps of new projects and works in close collaboration with knowledge experts of the CRU to develop the IIT unit's vision and support PIs in their clinical research initiatives.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate, coordinate, enhance and promote McGill's research and development activities by coordinating and managing clinical trial projects at the Clinical Research Unit at the Neuro.
  • Ensure continuous support to lead Investigators/Physicians in the delivery of uptodate activities and information, confirming priorities and timeframes of clinical trials.
  • Plan and organize phases of multiple projects and set operational procedures and deadlines to ensure smooth delivery of multiple project activities of investigatorinitiated trials.
  • Gather and present information to CRU staff, PI, and external collaborators, related to trial of CRU staff, PI and external collaborators.
  • Liaison between PI, CRU staff, patient and external collaborators and vendors. Attends all internal and external meetings as requested by the team manager and/or the pharmaceutical company for each clinical trial the coordinator is responsible for. Internal CRU communications include, but are not limited to, the contract office, ethics officers, finance officers, shipping team, start up team, and sponsored research teams.
  • Responsible for creating, collecting, and maintaining patient and study information for the.
  • Oversee the planning, development and launch phases of all projects they are responsible for. Build, nurture and maintain client relations and ensure a high level of customer service and professionalism at all times with internal and external partners.
  • Document and write detailed reports on project processes and outcomes, participate in developing projects' budget. Assists the IIT management and PIs in drafting and issuing project and grant proposals.
  • Actively contributes to the development and maintenance of internal policies, guidelines and procedures pertaining to investigatorinitiated projects/trials.
  • Participate actively in the recruitment of suitable participants for clinical research projects.
  • Make presentations at internal and external events to promote the unit's capabilities and services for PIdriven projects.
  • Work in close collaboration with the ethics coordinator and the research and ethics board to comply with regulations and to streamline new projects.
This position is a contract position for one (1) year, with possibility of renewal. The salary will commensurate with experience.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum qualifications: Minimum qualifications: PhD in science (biology, microbiology, immunology, neuroscience, etc.)
  • Experience: Minimum one to two years in a clinical research setting, preferably in neurosciences.
