REPORTING TO:
General Manager, Human Resources


HR Business Advisor is responsible for providing strategic and operational HR support to management and employees within a defined region.

They will also be responsible for executing HR procedures and solutions for their group.

This includes advisement and administration of employee performance reviews, workforce planning, salary reviews, supporting training and development, employee engagement and RME's separate recruitment function.


Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:


  • Provide advice and human resources service in areas such as recruitment and retention, training, program development, total compensation, WCB claims, job classification, coaching and mentoring line managers in HR issues and concerns. Working with an assigned business portfolio, you will facilitate positive outcomes, resolve workplace conflicts and manage employee relations issues
  • Advise Managers and employees on the interpretation of personnel policies, compensation and benefit programs
  • Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, salary scales and competency appraisal measures and systems.
  • Translates HR strategy into practical and effective HR solutions, where required in conjunction with Corporate procedures
  • Promote a high level of trust, credibility and respect with Branch staff by understanding their business goals and priorities and maintaining strong business relationships
  • Equip Managers with appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people in line with their people plans e.g. performance management, absence management, career management etc
  • Create, update, maintain all form letters, policies, procedures for HR team sharing on HRIS
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate personnel strategies including policies, programs and procedures to address an organization's human resource requirements
  • Hire and oversee onboarding of staff
  • Coordinate employee performance and appraisal programs
  • Research employee benefit and health and safety practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies.
  • Participate in career Fairs, job Fairs, as well as international recruitment initiatives
  • Comanage grassroots recruiting efforts including fostering relationships with colleges and universities for apprenticeships, summer placements, and new grads

Job Requirements and Qualifications Include:


  • 5+ years of related experience preferred in an HR generalist capacity with proven ability to manage a complex workload
  • Must be able to travel 23 times per month
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong industry knowledge both in human resources and demonstrated experience working within a branch model
  • University degree is preferred
  • CHRP designation an asset
  • Strong understanding of effective communication tactics in order to gain buyin and consistency of messaging
  • Experience and understanding of working within a branch model, geographicallydispersed organization, and inthefield recruitment
  • Working knowledge of ADP WorkForceNow ATS system would be an asset
  • Strong understanding of full cycle recruitment best practices
  • Experience in innovative and strategic sourcing methodologies, including social media platforms
  • General knowledge of human resource processes & Provincial Employment Standards
  • Familiar with third party search agencies and job boards
  • Background in writing job descriptions, job stream design, and compensation programs a strong asset
  • Campus recruitment experience
  • Proficient computer and typing skills including MS Office
