How will you contribute?


Work behind the scenes of one of Canada's largest rehabilitation projects to help ensure parliamentary buildings reflect all Canadians Leverage your passion for history, your creative ideas for interactive experiences and your interest in art and architecture to create dynamic and engaging content.


As the Communications Advisor (Long Term Vision and Plan), you will be responsible for directing the delivery of a wide range of communication plans, products and services to support the Senate's Long Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) program - the rehabilitation of Parliament buildings - through strategic, external and internal communications.


You will support a subcommittee of senators, brief executives on important communications files, collaborate extensively with external partners and stakeholders, guide the development of a series of digital products and lead the visitor experience program for the Senate.

This involves analyzing large amounts of information while managing multiple and concurrent project files.


This position reports to the Director General, Communications, Broadcasting and Publications as well as to the Director General, Property and Services.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate.

Prerequisites

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field of study or an acceptable combination of related education and experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the communications field, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in project management;
  • Experience in the areas of creative services, content development, stakeholder engagement, or organization of events;
  • Knowledge of Parliament and the Canadian political landscape;
  • Knowledge of the key components of the LTVP program and its key stakeholders is an asset;
  • Ability to explain complex topics in plain language in both official languages;
  • Skilled in writing for various targeted audiences and different platforms (web, reports, oped, news releases, speaking points);
  • Knowledge of user experience principles and visitor experience practices is an asset.
