Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities.

EMCR is responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction.

EMCR works directly with local governments, Indigenous Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.


EMCR's Corporate Planning Team leads business and strategic planning for the Ministry and is responsible for coordinating the Ministry's Service Plan, Annual Service Plan Report, Ministry Business Plan and other corporate plans, and quarterly performance reporting and ensures alignment with the Ministry's and B.C.

government's overall strategic direction.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Planning, the Performance & Planning Advisor coordinates EMCR's corporate planning, performance management, and reporting programs, and works across the Ministry to support the achievement of its mandate.


Job Requirements:

-
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent and
2 years of related experience; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include:


  • Experience in business and/or strategic planning and analyzing and evaluating program performance.
  • Experience developing and facilitating planning sessions or meetings.
  • Experience writing or copy editing for executive, senior officials, or equivalent.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis and interpretation, and making recommendations to senior decision makers.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executives and internal and external partners.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel utilizing intermediate-advanced functions for data manipulation and report generation.
  • Additional experience in any of the above related experience statements.
  • Work oncall and extended hours during emergencies and disasters.
  • Travel to other regions.

About this Position:

This position is located in Victoria.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home three (3) days or more a week as per the Telework Agreement.

This is a one (1) year temporary opportunity. This temporary opportunity may be extended or become permanent.
