'''Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Microbiology Technician to join our team.
The Microbiology technician will work at Neudorff North America, in the Microbiology lab, located in Brentwood Bay, Vancouver Island. This is a full time in place work position.
Responsibilities:
- Perform microbiological testing on samples using established protocols and procedures
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experiments and tests
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory activities and results
- Prepare and sterilize laboratory equipment and culture media
- Assist in the development of new laboratory methods and procedures
- Microbial fermentation and propagation in small scale.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of projects
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols in the laboratory
- DNA/RNA/protein extractions.
- Perform microbial interaction experiments or other experiments as required.
- Setting up lab/field experiments with fungal and bacterial cultures
- Decontamination and cleaning of media and glassware.
- Keep the lab clean, neat, and organized.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of microbiology and laboratory techniques
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized program in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, or a related field.
- At least one or two years of recent related laboratory experience including experience in a biotechnology/microbiology laboratory.
- Previous experience working in a microbiology laboratory setting is preferred
- Able to work in a Biosafety cabinet and handle autoclave procedures.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is a plus
- Experience working with living microorganisms: Bacteria and fungi
- Skilled in aseptic techniques
- Trained in Biosafety.
Salary:
$23.00-$29.07 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
