Special Events/Catering Chef


The Special Events/Catering Chef plays a crucial role in our organization by overseeing the production and preparation for all catering events.

They are responsible for maintaining knowledge of all food items and ensuring the quality and consistency of our offerings.

Their positive and professional demeanor, along with excellent communication skills, contribute to our guest-focused approach, which sets us apart from other venues and leads to repeat business and satisfied guests.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Report to the Sous Chef and ensure the completion of systems related to catered events, such as prep lists, freezer pull lists, weekly order forms, and grocery/shopping lists.
  • Utilize effective time management skills to plan the preparation and execution of all catered events, meeting deadlines and utilizing available resources as required.
  • Pick up various orders from food suppliers using a personal vehicle.
  • Ensure that catering practices adhere to food safety guidelines and company standards regarding health and safety.
  • Maintain storage practices for catering items in accordance with MLHU and company standards, actively managing manual upkeep and delegating tasks when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to maximize the usage of surplus ingredients and minimize waste.
  • Complete tasks as directed by management.
  • Follow safe food storage and handling guidelines, and monitor employees to ensure compliance with kitchen sanitation and maintenance.
  • Engage in weekly administrative work as required.
  • Take accountability for the organization, execution of events, and food quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate evening, weekend, and holiday work.
  • Formal training or graduation from a culinary school is preferred.
  • Possession of a Safe Food Handler Certificate.
  • Ability to work in various workspaces as required.
  • Willingness to work long hours, being on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Adherence to appropriate work attire, including chef pants, jacket, and hat or hair net.

Salary:
$45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
