Stuart Olson is searching for experienced Mechanical Superintendent managing trades on a large complex operating Canadian Industrial site in both maintenance and turnaround environments.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Site Manager, the superintendent will be responsible for the following:

  • Demonstrate the Promise and contribute to it becoming embedded across the organization.
  • Direct the planning, organizing and control of required activities with input from onsite client representatives.
  • Create manpower loadings and assist in recruiting.
  • Cost management against established budgets.
  • Act as coach and mentor to the employees that report to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure that all work is done properly and safely with an understanding of relevant OH&S regulation and codes.
  • Adhere to all site specific procedures.
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of, and effectively practice, all applicable regulatory, company and client policies.
  • Ensure installation and dismantling (deployment) of various equipment.
  • Effectively investigate all incidents of bodily injury and property damage, and follow up to prevent reoccurrence of same, produce top quality incident reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications:


  • Journeyman certification and strong mechanical background
years' Industrial maintenance and turnaround experience

  • 5 years' experience in a leadership role at a Superintendent level
  • Valid Drivers license
  • Solid understanding of the OH&S regulations
  • Evidence of exceptional leadership skills and ability to influence, mentor and coach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities capable of handling pressure and challenges
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
Working Conditions

  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
  • Working in and around noise and dust
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Working in confined spaces
  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steeltoed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg
  • Climbing stairs/ladders regularly
  • Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
