Your role at Clorox:
Product Data Planners (PDPs) are on the front lines of product lifecycle management, master data management, and materials management. As such, this position plays a key role in stewarding Clorox data and financial assets and driving business results.

The Product Data Planner should operate with a bias for action while working collaboratively with Supply Chain Services, Supply Planning, R&D, P2P, Master Data Management, and plants/Co-Pack, to set up, maintain, and cleanse data associated with new, transitioning, end-of-life, and ongoing products/packaging.

Work with Plants, Co-Packers, Vendors, DCs, and GSS to drive inbound raw/pack supply plans and product flow and product disposal for obsolete and remnant materials.

Due to the broad scope of the role and responsibilities, the Product Data Planners need to be able to work with mínimal supervision to execute the steps necessary to ensure timely and accurate New Item Set Up.

They must take initiative and utilize analytical skills to make decisions on a daily basis to keep projects and cross-functional partners on track.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage System Set-up both LX and SAP

The Product Data Planner must analyze the project and understand the Supply Chain involved before making decisions with New Item Set Up.

They must develop a plan to track all of the new Finished Goods and components to meet targeted Start Of Production (SOP) and Start Of Ship (SOS).

PDPs must know the appropriate questions to ask for unique supply chain set-up's, and they need to analyze project information and PDM recipes to initiate the workflows correctly.

This requires that the PDP makes decisions if there is a need for Alternate Recipes (AltRcp) for manufacturing purposes and determining usage for Sales and ReClass BOMs in addition to Manufacturing BOMs if the PDP determines it is required.

The PDP must prioritize how to accomplish the tasks based on the complexity of the project in order to meet deadlines.

PDPs keep key stakeholders apprised of status, roadblocks, and issues while working with appropriate parties to troubleshoot and suggest resolutions.

New Item Set-up:

  • Utilize systems expertise to create versions of specifications and Engineering Change Notifications (ECN's) in the Product Data Maintenance (PDM) system.
  • As business needs often dictate, the PDP works independently using PDM to create finished goods pack codes. The Pack Code process can involve a highly complex system set up including creation of new Fert numbers, Recipes, Consumer Unit versions, Inner Pack versions, and primary art versions in PDM.
  • R&D designs New Item Design recipes using Consumer Units. In the case of Secondary Co-Packers or where Empty Ware (MTW) is involved, the recipes need to be altered for manufacturing purposes. It is incumbent on the Product Data Planner to decide when an alternate recipe (AltRcp) is required and they work unassisted to create that recipe in PDM. Different Usages must be calculated in the case of Special Packs because they require Sales BOMS (Sales and finance reporting depend on the accurate Sales BOM set up and maintenance) and often ReClass BOMS (Enables efficient and timely deployment of finished goods between plants).
  • PDP decides which NIS workflow to use based on the nature of the Finished Good (New Standard Item, Variant, or Special Pack) and then extends new components to the appropriate Plants. Working with stakeholders, PDPs ensure timely & accurate completion of New Item Set-up for new UPC's and SAP finished goods material ID's (FERT's). The PDP has to make the decision whether or not there is a need to escalate workflows. They are responsible to manage the workflow through the Workflow stakeholders until it is complete.
  • Responsible for extracting the Electronic Bill of Material (EBOM) from PDM to create the manufacturing BOM.
  • Responsible for creating and managing product specific Lanes and Quota in APO to ensure proper forecast by location distribution and Deployment signals.

Transitions:

  • Partner with the Supply Chain Lead and Supply Planner to manage material determination/exclusion records for New Item Set up. As FERTs are being runout or customer distribution is revised, the Product Data Planner is responsible for managing Material Determination/Exclusion records. The records determine what customers can order in terms of specific UPCs/Ferts and when and from where they can be shipped.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Lead to manage controlling FERT's.
  • Manage recip
