Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative's vision, mission, values, and safety principles to make a difference in members lives, with a strong customer focused approach
  • Support the Director, HSE in administration of the Health and Safety program across the organization by promoting a culture of safety
  • Provide administrative assistance in the ongoing development and management of the Safety Management System; and general administrative support to the director HSE
  • Develop and maintain record keeping system for safety management system and associated training
  • To assist in the development and periodic review of our safety program, procedures, and policies
  • To assist in implementing position/site specific safety training into the onboarding process
  • To assist with investigating workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses; provide recommendations to prevent future incidents
  • To ensure all team members have the required safety training for their role ex: site specific WHMIS, PME, TDG etc.
  • To maintain and update all First Aid certifications, training, and expiry dates
  • To plan for and assist with facilitation of various training courses
  • To attend OHS committee meetings, prepare minutes and follow up with the Director and Team Leaders as appropriate
  • To perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Health, Safety, & Environment and:

  • You have knowledge of applicable Environmental, Health and Safety, regulatory requirements; experience in the Health and Safety field and retail experience would be considered assets
  • You are proficient in Microsoft office programs (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and have a desire to incorporate technology into your work
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to translate complex information to different audiences
  • You have the ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • You have the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • You have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • You have effective planning and organization skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fastpaced environment
  • You have a valid Class 5 license with intermittent day travel required
