The Client Data Solutions (CDSS) team's major business objective is to change, optimize and improve the manner in which we process and deliver data services to our group business lines - Group Benefits (GB) and Group Retirement Services (GRS).

Our strategy is to build a service-oriented center of excellence model, which focuses on client (internal and external) service and recognizes the importance of all stakeholders and its impact to a centralized data management strategy.


We specialize in:

  • Inbound bulk data files and automated feeds from our clients into Sun Life (e.g., demographic data loads, asset transferin files, GRS enrolment and contribution feeds, etc.)
  • Data loads, transfers, analysis and reporting to support client implementations, revisions, and ongoing service


This role specifically is on the CDSS Group Benefits (GB) Production team, which is responsible for handling large data loads to our systems based on our GB Clients' needs.

A key driver to the success of our team is finding people that possess a great mix of business knowledge, data manipulation skills and the ability to communicate well with our business partners to prioritize our clients' needs.


Reporting to the Manager, Client Data Solutions, the Data Production Analyst is responsible for the coordination and execution of client data transfers to the appropriate Sun Life systems, with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.

This may involve working directly with Sun Life Service Representatives in Business Development, Implementation Project Managers, Plan Setup and Member Specialists in Operations.


Data manipulation will be required at the time of new business implementations or major amendments to existing customer plan designs, as well as ongoing maintenance of existing client data.


What will you do?

  • Production support inbound (processing various member data files from plan sponsors) (90%)_
  • Manipulate and reformat data files from the client's format to a compatible Sun life format
  • Coordinate with Sun Life's Business Projects and Solutions and IT teams to ensure data is mapped accurately to plan set up
  • Perform compares between two or more data files to identify discrepancies
  • Responsible for claim history load transfers
  • Create prepopulated enrolment forms, interim pay direct drug cards, and partial loader templates for plan members.
  • Provide timely and accurate data file management support to Implementation Project Managers, Plan Setup and Member Specialists in Operations
  • Best practices and team development (10%)_
  • Collaborate continuously with team members to identify and implement process improvements and best practices, in order to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Document business processes and provide training on new or enhanced processes, when required.
  • Adhere to quality, audit and time tracking checking functions within the team.
  • Provide coaching to peers and Data Specialists on the team
  • Support Manager with organizing and leading training sessions

What do you need to succeed?

  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, VLOOKUP, IF statements, pivot tables) is required
  • Detailoriented and analytical skills with an ability to work with large sets of data
  • Organization, time management and prioritization skills to be able to work under pressure and meet quick turnaround times
  • Collaborative, solutionsoriented and customer service skills
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual Englishspeaking manager outside Quebec.

What will be nice to have?

  • Experience with VBA macro or SQL.
  • Knowledge of the Group Benefits businesses, products, and processes.
  • Knowledge of plan setup and member administration on the OASIS and CHESS systems
