Job Purpose
The Assistant Service Manager is the dealership's first-line customer relations and service sales representative.

The role encompasses the proper satisfaction of customer and vehicle related problems, customer relationships, operating the service department at maximum production, meeting predetermined service sales objectives, and the thorough and accurate performance of designated administrative activities.


Responsibilities

  • Train the service sales employee to promote customer satisfaction.
  • Train the service sales employees to tactfully handle customer inconveniences misunderstandings and complaints.
  • Handle customer complaints that demand management's attention tactfully, promptly, and with genuine concern for the customer's concerns.
  • Ensure every employee exhibits pride of workmanship.
  • Ensure all Service Consultants conduct all business with sincerity, honesty, and genuine concern for customers.
  • Generate and continually strive to increase labour sales.
  • Provide the necessary material support to sell services.
  • Maintain daily sales and production records as prescribed by the dealerships management.
  • Separate and distribute repair order copies to department policy.
  • Maintain a current service department employee work rotation chart.
  • Properly document repair order changes.
  • Document flat rate time or other required timekeeping according to the service department and/or manufacturer's procedures.
  • Maintain a record of carryover vehicles.
  • Maintain a record of special order parts status utilizing shop parts process.
  • Perform other specific administrative functions as directed by service management.
  • Provide additional vehicle problem/complaint information to the technical staff as needed.
  • Maintain communication with the technical staff regarding job status changes.
  • Remain continuously posted on the shop's workload to determine the kind of work the shop can accommodate.
  • Ensure all Service Consultants contact customers when repairs for their vehicle are completed.
  • Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its employees, or its customers.
  • Communicate and cooperate with all other dealership managers, and when needed to resolve conflicts, or to request the involvement of the next higher dealership authority.
  • Perform other specific assignments as directed by dealership management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the automotive industry
  • Management experience in the automotive industry is preferred
  • Proven ability to influence change and effectively lead projects
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with CDK and Reynolds systems; ability to operate PCbased software, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence
  • Clear Driver's Abstract
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Automotive Technician's License is an asset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
