    Affordability and Utilities is responsible for leading and coordinating government's ongoing efforts to make everyday life more affordable, with particular focus on the province's utilities sector and electricity system. Please visit:

    Role Responsibilities

    The Affordability and Utilities Ministry is currently seeking an agile and driven Senior Policy Advisor reporting to the Director, Affordability.

    As a Senior Policy Advisor, your role is pivotal in shaping policy directions/formulation, fostering stakeholder engagement, and ensuring effective implementation of initiatives and programmes to enhance affordability and utility services as well as contributing to the betterment of Albertans and the achievement of the ministry's objectives. These initiatives consists of programmes targeted at lowering the cost of utilities such as electricity, natural gas etc. housing, food, insurance and other essential services as well as ensuring accessibility to these services by all Albertans.

    While working in this role, the Senior Policy Advisor will need to facilitate communication and collaborations with other Ministries such as Energy & Minerals, Environmental and protected Areas, Treasury and Finance Board etc and will be required to develop and maintain a strong working relationships. You will be accountable for evaluating existing affordability programmes, identification of possible gaps and opportunities for further government action. You will lead major projects, coordinate consultations, assess policy options, and present insights to management and stakeholders.

    The Senior Policy advisor will also be charged with developing innovative approaches to demonstrating the performance of affordability measures with little to no precedents as well as devising multiple solutions to problems through thorough research, planning and analysis.
