Job Summary:
You are a self-driven professional who demonstrates a depth of knowledge and expertise in the field of Labour Relations.

You will proactively engage and partner with operations to advise, influence and provide support regarding union relations, and grievance management.

Working with mínimal guidance and working collaboratively with site personnel and shared services support teams to ensure alignment and proper facilitation occurs between the Project Site and its employees.

The Labour Relations Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive support and guidance to the Surrey Langley Skytrain project site regarding Labour Relations deliverables.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Advise, influence, and provide support to leaders at the project site in interpreting, ensuring compliance, administration, and implementing Collective Agreement(s) and project specific terms and conditions
  • Support and guide project team in the resolving unionized employee issues and grievances
  • Establishes consensus and reach agreements on proposed resolutions through engagement with project site team, and union representatives
  • Executes implementation of negotiated terms and conditions of the collective agreement and PLA ensuring compliance as required and in accordance with the agreement.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data pertaining to current labor market conditions and trends to inform strategic decision making and workforce planning
  • Serves as a resource to site project team by sharing indepth Labour Relations knowledge and experience.
  • May also lead various projects with limited risk to support completion of LR deliverables.
  • Develops and delivers various Industrial Labour Relations educational resources, including Progressive Discipline, Respect in the Workplace, Collective Agreement and labour jurisdiction overviews to the project site team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Labour Relations or Human Resources generalist role with experience supporting a unionized organized workforce
  • Construction and Trade Unions experience
  • Labour Board interface experience
  • Compensation and benefits experience market analysis
  • Understanding of applicable employment and human rights legislation, labour law and regulations
  • Understands and able to interpret provincial codes and acts
  • Experienced in negotiation and mediation settings
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining processes
  • Experience in progressive discipline and grievance procedures
  • Deliver a highquality service with a focus on business acumen and quality decision making and the ability
- to propose creative and innovative solutions to meet business needs

  • Ability to build and foster effective client relationships.
  • Client focused with strong communication, both verbal and written
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability forge strong rapport with various stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Ability to provide solutions to challenging problems
