Job Description:
- Reconciles and maintains general ledger payroll account balances.
- Execute the month end payroll closing process, including system driven.
- Perform the complete cycle of payroll gains, deductions, remittances, account reconciliation and yearend process.
- Ensure government remittances are processed on a timely basis.
- Recommend and implement process improvements for employee time sheet tracking system and payroll processing procedures.
- Respond to requests from the government and relevant agencies when required.
- Respond to requests for information from employees and managers.
- Participates in the development and/or updating of the company's compensation policies.
- Lead and resolve payroll queries.
- Maintain strong crossfunctional team relationships.
- Perform the complete cycle of payroll gains, deductions, remittances, account reconciliation, yearend process, etc.
- Develop and coach a team of payroll coordinators in regard to new processes.
- Resolve more complex issues raised by the payroll team or managers regarding payroll, compensation, and company policies; efficiently and tactfully.
Qualifications:
- Diploma of Collegial Studies in accounting or another relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, and accounting.
- Member of the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset.
- Advanced Excel
- Thorough knowledge of federal laws and regulations.
- Good interdepartmental communication
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Respect for confidential information, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Bilingualism (French and English spoken and written).
