The Role


Portable Electric is currently looking for an experienced Production Manager to join our team Reporting into our VP of Operations, the Production Manager is a proven leader/team builder who is able to build manufacturing capability and operational processes to meet product demand in the market.

The Production Manager is experienced in lean and advanced manufacturing, production scheduling, and is able to build an organization that is capable, adaptable, and responsive to the growth needs of the business.


Your Impact as the Production Manager

  • Manage the production workforce daily with a focus on fulfilling department needs
  • Troubleshoot, investigate and correct any deviations from the work instructions (WI's) and quality control
  • Develop a detailed production schedule and prepare RCCP to ensure using resources efficiently
  • Generate production work orders to optimize labor utilization and mitigate production constraints
  • Utilize CI principles to define improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methods
  • Assist in the implementation of all technical enterprise solutions, including ERP and MRP systems
  • Develop, maintain and report KPIs for quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Identify COGS reductions on the floor and work with key stakeholders to implement changes
  • Participate in work safety practices in consultation with the Health and Safety Committee
  • Ensure training and procedures are effectively created, communicated and implemented to all employees
  • Create and foster an environment build around teamwork, collaboration, communication and excellence
  • Support the execution of Corporate Social Responsibility programs and initiatives that are aligned with our Corporate Strategy and reviewed on a periodic basis to assess outcomes and effectiveness
  • Stay abreast of relevant CSR initiatives, research and trends in environmental sustainability and promoting best practices throughout their reports
  • Drive budget and monitor spending to deliver results in line with planned sustainability practices and objectives

Who You Are

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading a production team, preferably in the electronics industry involving manual assembly or in a complex and advanced manufacturing environment
  • Postsecondary education in manufacturing, engineering, operations management or a related discipline is an asset
  • Able to work in a fastpaced and everchanging environment; prioritize and manage multiple production projects at the same time with the support of the team
  • Able to coach, train, develop and delegate tasks to Production team members (including Production Associates and Team Leads) through strong leadership skills
  • Experience in a startup or in a growthstage scaleup organization is preferred
  • Already legally eligible to work in Canada

Your Technical Skills

  • Lean Six Sigma certification is required
  • Experience with ERP (e.g. NetSuite, Oracle) and MRP software system is required
  • APICS certification is an asset
  • Professional designation in manufacturing or engineering is an asset

Where You Will Be Located

  • This is a fulltime permanent position working out of our Vancouver, BC office located at 3030 East Broadway
