Classification Summary - Union

  • A Communications Coordinator develops, promotes, publicizes and runs communications programs for identified departmental initiatives.

Use your strong writing, research and interpersonal skills to develop and implement communication, marketing, and awareness campaigns for Kelowna International Airport.

As Communications Coordinator, you will create content for a variety of audiences and channels and support key business strategies and objectives for the airport executive team.


  • The City of Kelowna is one of the most rapidly growing cities in Canada and Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is an exciting place to be as a communicator. YLW was one of the fastest recovering airports post pandemic and exceeded 2 million passengers in 2023. YLW is also in phase 1 of a threeyear terminal expansion project that will add approximately 5590 m2 of new space to the terminal building and 1200m2 of renovated space to the existing terminal building.

Duties - Union

  • Plans, prepares and delivers communications, community educational programs, social marketing initiatives and presentations.
  • Develops and coordinates marketing and communications plans for various departmental initiatives.
  • Coordinates and implements special projects, based on City's direction.
  • Prepares and coordinates media releases, advertising and newspaper promotions.
  • Participates in public consultations for program initiatives.
  • Responds to public enquiries and complaints.
  • Fosters strong relationships and establish partnerships in the community.

Pay Rate

  • Starts at $37.30 per hour with a 2step progression to $39.75 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits
