A day in the life


The Supply Chain Business Analyst is responsible for working closely with the Manager, Digitization & Gateway Innovation in leading the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of various port supply chain optimization and reporting initiatives and systems.


Key responsibilities
Project Support and Monthly Reporting

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders on defining business requirements
  • Recommend prioritization of business requirements based on stakeholder input and industry expertise
  • Validate that technology solutions and data structures meet business requirements
  • Develop and communicate acceptance criteria for UAT. Lead UAT efforts. Document and prioritize defect resolution and enhancement requests.
  • Create processes and methods to gather supply chain performance data relating to port supply chain activity.
  • Analyze data to identify problematic areas and recommend improvements.
  • Foster trusting and collaborative relationships with both public and private supply chain business partners.
  • Provide support in the planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and closing of regular supply chain performance related reports.
  • Coordinate with internal and external vendors on the support and maintenance of Department specific information systems.
  • On an ongoing basis, monitor data flow and quality into all Land Operations supply chain information systems. As required, lead efforts to recover data and recommend mitigating actions or monitoring to prevent further data loss.
  • When appropriate, approve scope and requirements for enhancement requests or defect fixes within the specific maintenance and support contract for the system.
Communication and Coordination

  • As assigned, support supply chain stakeholder committees and working groups including the presentation of project and performance updates.
  • Develop PowerPoint or other presentation materials to communicate port or divisional projects, business plans, initiatives and submissions.
  • Develop and maintain a system for managing diverse information related to meetings, stakeholder groups, data and other sources for reference. Ensure action items are brought forward for follow up and resolution.

Required skills and experience


A two year full-time diploma in data analytics, transportation and logistics, or another acceptable field from a recognized educational institution, along with a minimum of 4 years of experience implementing digital reporting and optimization systems, preferably in supply chain, transportation or manufacturing sectors.

Experience working with third party vendors and internal and external stakeholders on data analysis, profiling, data quality development, data design, implementation and on-going maintenance and support of the system(s).

Demonstrated experience in leading a project from start to finish in a complex team environment. A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerBI, and data analytics tools. An understanding of port stakeholders and supply chain related activities is an asset.


Must haves


Must be a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and the ability to liaise effectively and positively with both staff and external stakeholders.

Must have an analytical mind and strong business acumen. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Must have excellent organizational skills and flexibility to perform a diverse portfolio of tasks.
