Here's What You'll Get to Do:

  • Analyzing data that can affect costs
  • Analyzing plans, bill of quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs.
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and other departments in addition to external customers and supplies to create accurate, competitive, and timely bids for key projects.
  • Prepare detailed estimates on varying prospective standard projects.
  • Develop bidding strategies to create a competitive edge for OBE.
  • Manage general customer inquiries for technical data and information.
  • Work closely with other members of the Estimating Team in problem solving and improving overall efficiencies.
  • Investigate the merits of, and welcome training on products, systems and technology as made available.
  • Produce detailed project turnover files for secured projects with turnover documents that allow for an accurate and timely delivery of finished products.
  • Produce detailed job cost sheets for secured projects.
  • Share best practices with the Estimating team.
  • Selfreview your completed bids against anticipated results prior to review by Estimating Manager.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Accept special assignments as presented.


Frequent contact with customers, associate personnel, other OBE locations, outsource providers and others as required during the performance of work assignments to include, but not limited to, responding to inquiries, providing explanations, gathering required information, securing accurate and competitive supplier bids, and resolving customer complaints.


Here's What We're Looking For:

  • Knowledge of:
  • Principles, practices, techniques, and methods of Estimating
  • MS word and excel
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Skill:
  • High level of written and verbal communication.
  • Detail focused with a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to:

  • Focus on the needs of the customers and collaborate with internal OBE departments to achieve a successful bid.
  • Interpret scope of work documents including, but not limited to, purchase orders, specifications, drawings, and other documents.
  • Gather and analyze appropriate relevant data to prepare and present concise and complete bids.
  • Work and communicate effectively with all people related to the project.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment with a high degree of achieving team focused successes.
  • Set priorities to manage multiple projects and customer inquiries concurrently while maintaining deadlines.

Acceptable Experience and Training


Any acceptable combination of education and experience equivalent to an Architectural / Civil / Mechanical engineering diploma and/or degree and Two (2) or more years of successful industry experience, OR and equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
