Job Summary

  • The Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University is a small researchintensive campus located in Truro, NS. Offering technical, undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, environment and related life and social science disciplines, the Faculty of Agriculture educates future leaders and generates knowledge and innovative solutions for healthy, sustainable societies. Reporting to the Manager, International, the Global Education and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination and execution of student and faculty mobility and coordination of global education programs, and will contribute to meeting the targets identified in the Faculty of Agriculture Internationalization Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop international learning opportunities across the Faculty including international field courses, global education programs, and student placements, exchange, and study abroad. Seek out and develop proposals for global engagement opportunities and funding.
  • Manage mobility programs from conception to evaluation, coordinating with internal and external partners locally and internationally at all levels. This includes delivering sessions and training, program design, risk mitigation identification and recommendations, and managing student safety while abroad.
  • Conceptualize and help develop a Facultywide mobility database in support of internationalization. Develop and implement data tracking methods, identify and monitor KPIs, compile data, and contribute to office reporting and management of records.
  • Draft global education policy, procedures, and guidelines, and ensure Faculty practice and protocols follow University policy and best practices. Work with the International Finance Officer to develop, review, and oversee budget and expenses related to global education mobility.
  • Develop relevant content for social media, internal & external newsletters and website web presence as well as prepare event communications, and media and press releases.
  • Contribute to strategic partnerships, community engagement activities and academic programs with provincial, regional, and national public and private sector actors in internationalization.

Note

  • The incumbent will be required to travel both domestically and internationally. Periodic evening and weekend work will be required as well.
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.


Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as education, international development or agriculture plus approximately three to five years relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience in any of the following areas: academic program development, postsecondary career services, mobility programming, student advising, international higher education, and/or community development.
  • Experience in program coordination and/or project management, including the marketing and promotion of projects or programs.
  • Experience living or working internationally in addition to excellent crosscultural skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship
- and team-building skills as well as strong communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills in English.

  • Strong initiative, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software; experience in database development and management with the demonstrated ability to learn new programs quickly.
