  • Technology delivery and operations
  • Perform complex end-to-end delivery, design, and maintenance for systems within the scope of expertise. Make recommendations to the Team lead on tasks distribution within the team as relates to their assigned activity


  • Specialist advice

  • Actively maintain recognised expert level knowledge in multiple identifiable specialisms


  • Problem management

  • Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services. Determine problem fixes and remedies


  • Testing

  • Accept responsibility for creation of test cases using indepth technical analysis of both functional and nonfunctional specifications, including reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability and portability
  • Systems software
  • Review system software updates and identify those that merit action


  • Methods and tools

  • Provide advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools, and adherence to policies and standards


  • Vendor relationship management

  • Maintain an ongoing awareness and reporting for issues escalated to the vendor for support


  • Mentorship

  • Provide opportunities and understanding for AIS I positions on the team, to help develop and expand their understanding from implementation to design

Qualifications:


  • One of the following combinations of education and experience:
  • Degree in a computer science and 4 years relevant experience;
    OR:
  • Postsecondary diploma in software development related fields and 5 years of relevant experience;
    OR:
  • A 1-year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience.
  • Computronix POSSE certifications is an asset
  • JavaScript, Python, C#, PowerShell, REST/SOAP, JSON, JQuery, Crystal, XtraReports
  • ORACLE / PLSQL is an asset
  • Other technologyspecific certifications and diplomas related to the work are an asset
  • Experience with.
NET, Python, Cloud Computing, SaaS Applications, SQL, Oracle

  • Experience with programming, systems analysis and design, process and data
  • An understanding of performance monitoring tools and procedures, as well as automated testing procedures is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to excel within a team environment
  • Ability to perform complex endtoend system integration, solution delivery and maintenance
  • An understanding of the City of Edmonton IT architectural standards, processes, and procedures is an asset
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and the ability to present ideas, recommendations, and proof of concepts to senior levels
  • Top tier analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to evaluate complex business process alternatives and translate those processes in a system design with consideration for cost to build and support, as well as audit requirements
  • Proven ability to complete software development and support
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate others, plan and track work, as well as strengthen and encourage team members and set a good example

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.


This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.


Salary range:
$48.106 to $61.389 per hour; $84,750 to $108,152 annually
