Earthworks Archaeological Services Inc. is hiring archaeological field technicians for the upcoming 2023 field season. Positions are open for those in the Hamilton, Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Niagara, London and Windsor areas.

As a field technician you will have the opportunity to work on a small archaeological crew while participating in archaeological surveys, assessment and excavations.

In this position you will learn about Ontario's history and the commercial archaeology industry.

As a field technician you will conduct stage 2-4 archaeological assessment by collecting and recording data and artifacts through hand excavation and pedestrian survey.

Requirements:

Ability to work in a team setting
Willingness to learn and take direction
Ability to work in an outdoor setting in a variety of conditions (cold and hot temperatures, light rain) while completing vigorous manual labour activities including kneeling, shovelling, screening and hiking over difficult terrain
Must be capable of performing repetitive movement tasks
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Ability to work 1012 hours at a time when required
Ability to travel and hotel overnight for up to four nights a week. Per diem provided
Must have own transportation and be willing to handle and be responsible for assigned work equipment. Mileage and travel time provided
Experience in outdoor labour jobs such as irrigation or landscaping is considered an asset

Salary:
Pay is graded by experience and qualifications, starting at $20.00

Schedule: 8-12-hour shifts between Monday-Friday. Hours will vary week to week and are dependent on timelines, weather and travel. On-call.
