Bunge North America (BNA) has a challenging opportunity available for a Continuous Improvement Specialist to help drive our organization to achieve substantial cost and efficiency improvements year over year.

This position will report to the North American Continuous Improvement Manager.

As a CI Specialist, you will be responsible for strategically supporting change management activities in a geographical area, and supporting the use of Lean Sigma, kaizens, and other continuous improvement tools within the business and industrial operation environments to eliminate non-value added activities, while improving operational excellence.

CI Specialists will assisted in the identification and proliferation of manufacturing best practices across Bunge, as well as be responsible for the support of an operational excellence culture throughout all plant operations and in alignment with the Bunge Production System (BPS) improvement effort.


Essential Functions:

  • Champion Safety & Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Geographically lead BPS support efforts for homesite and potential sister site(s).
  • Support and assist with crossfunctional critical business projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement techniques in order to identify and eliminate waste throughout the business.
  • Support and assist with various improvement projects; it is important that the projects are followedup on and when required DMAIC principles applied, while the ownership of the project will be transferred to site Plant Manager and/or BPS Pillar Leaders upon completion.
  • Work with Regional CI Leaders to ensure project savings are identified, tracked, and captured for accurate reporting, including BPS progress updates.
  • Training and Coaching of local staff and BPS Pillar Leaders within assigned sites.
  • Work with the Regional CI Leader to train and build the BPS skillset of the local resources, so that sites are able to implement, sustain, and continue using BPS principles independently.
  • Support business functions and plants in mapping their work processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead site transformational change initiatives, in collaboration with Regional CI Leaders, to identifying greatest Lean and BPS opportunities across the company.
  • Coordinate with Regional CI Leaders and sites to identify and share BPS best practices and external trends.
  • Assist site Pillar Leaders with closing identified BPS gaps.
  • Lead discussions and drive the site integrated master plan for BPS success (horizon action planning).
  • Actively promote BPS "Pull Methodology" to site Pillar Leaders for regional support engagement.
  • Teach and coach others in scientific problemsolving and the importance of standardized work (SWI).
  • Educate, communicate, and excite the organization on Lean and BPS principles.
  • Embrace and demonstrate Servant Leadership concepts.

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience required, with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Preferred
  • Experience with assisting in the design and implementation of continuous improvement projects and initiatives
  • Must have an understanding of loss prevention and the 8 Types of Waste
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Strong presentation and facilitation/training skills
  • Results oriented with a strong customer focus
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Strong computer skills are required
  • Must be able handle overlapping priorities effectively
