    Job Summary:

    The Project Engineer will be responsible for using a customer's requirements and developing a project plan which meets the program needs, in a cost efficient and timely manner. The Project Engineer is primarily accountable for planning, coordinating, and directing a new project or process, ensuring that organizational standards, procedures, and work processes are followed.


    Job Responsibilities:

    Your supervisor may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job's key responsibilities include:

    • Develop, lead, and deliver project plans for new proposals and existing projects, liaising with cross-functional departments leaders.
    • Manage project timing within overall program plan; track progress changes and develop mitigation plans when necessary.
    • Track and control project costs, ensuring the project is progressing within the allocated budget.
    • Ensure appropriate resources are available to support project activities.
    • Interact with internal stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are on track and progressing in a timely manner.
    • Report on program statuses and identifying critical issues.
    • Act as primary point of communication interface with the customer for the respective program(s).
    • Assist Quality and Production departments in troubleshooting and problem analysis in conjunction with any issues of quality or production efficiency, when requested.
    • Analyze and implement continuous improvements specific to production efficiencies and product quality.
    • Ensure records and specifications are maintained and updated, as needed.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
    • Minimum 2 years of direct project engineering experience, preferably in the automotive or aerospace industry.
    • PMP certificate or P.Eng license is an asset.
    • Must be able to read and fully interpret engineering drawings and standards (applicable GD&T knowledge preferred).
    • Good understanding in developing program lifecycle; from quote to production phase.
    • Exhibit experience leading teams through the APQP process in the development, execution and launch of products for Automotive Tier 1 suppliers or OEM customers.
    • Knowledge of industry practices for Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Plastics Bonding and Assembly Processes for vehicle components is an asset.
    • Excellent communication, with the ability to efficiently correspond with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to provide project updates and timelines.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, with sound decision making skills.
    • High level of organizational skills required. Able to effectively organize and manage competing priorities.

    Working Conditions:

    • Physical Environment - Primarily in an office setting, with occasional visits to plants.
    • Working hours and patterns - 8:30-5:00pm unless otherwise required.
    • Workload and Overtime - Workload and overtime will fluctuate from time to time.
    • Occupational stress - Tight deadlines and fluctuating business/customer demands.

    Environmental, Health and Safety Expectations:

    Employee Responsibilities:

    • Work in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations.
    • Use personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the employer.
    • Report workplace hazards and dangers to a supervisor
    • Work in a safe manner as required by the employer and use the prescribed safety equipment.
    • Tell the supervisor or employer about any missing or defective equipment or protective device that may be dangerous.

    Security and Housekeeping:

    • Ensure visitors and contractors follow the Contractor Management Policies / Site-specific Procedures.
    • All Employees must use the designated employee entrance and exit doors. Under no circumstances can employees prop or cause to remain open any entrance or exit door that could permit entry to the facility for unauthorized individuals.
    • All employees shall ensure the building is always clean and a safe workplace.
    • No food or drink is permitted in the warehouse or production area, unless in a spill proof container. All other food and drink items must remain in the designated break areas.
