Summary:

Directs, organizes, controls, coordinates site activities related to the field execution, productivity, & quality for assigned tasks by performing the duties outlined below personally or through direct subordinates.


Key Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for actively contributing to the profitability & schedule on all assigned tasks while maintaining the project quality as specified.
  • Reviews project specifications / scope of work / site conditions to identify potential obstacles and strategize with the Project Manager and Superintendent prior to field construction.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager and Superintendent, implements methods & procedures to improve job site productivity and improve "product quality".
  • Identifies the work processes & techniques that will provide the best productivity & coordinates with the Carpenters and Labourers accordingly.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent to maintain client/consultant relationships on each project by identifying issues/activities that affect the contract, schedule, and scope of work.
  • Maintains a daily activity log & written communication log on all project decisions / changes and directions for review by the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Ensures all scope of work changes are approved in writing prior to execution in the field.
  • Plans & schedules construction activities and priorities to maintain the project schedule & costs. Focus is on the applied finishes and completion of the project. This includes direction, management and scheduling with Trade Contractors and Suppliers.
  • Checks daily critical details within the structure for completeness and quality.
  • Performs preoccupancy walkthroughs at the finish stage.
  • Coordinates equipment utilization & service activities with the Project Manager and Superintendent. Identifies maintenance requirements to ensure optimum production & equipment utilization.
  • Follow Standard operating practices and know applicable specifications, regulations, etc.
  • Conduct daily reviews of production with the Project Manager and Superintendent. Follow direction given to resolve onsite operational, human resource, and technical problems.
  • Abide by and Implement the corporate safety program (standard & safe working practices), monitor employee compliance and report on any incidents to management.
  • Responsible for communicating job expectations, monitoring & appraising job results, coaching, counseling & disciplining direct reports.
  • Provide day to day direction & motivation of all direct reports and promote a team environment & philosophy.
  • Prepare "developmental plan" for all direct reports to ensure appropriate training needs (skills, knowledge, experience) for direct reports and proactively arranges developmental activities for direct reports.
  • Ensure all Carpenters and Labourers are accountable for tools and equipment verify they are operating & maintaining the tools and equipment according to acceptable OHS and company standards.

Qualifications:


  • 35 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in implementation of construction site safety and OHS policies
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite of products
  • Excellent Communication and Leadership skills
  • Ability to be flexible and manage effectively in a busy environment
  • Adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Experience:
